Terrorist attacks in Pakistan up by 65% in October

Islamabad (PR) – Posting about 65 percent increase from previous month, a total of 28 terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan in October 2018. However the number of people killed in terrorist attacks declined by about 18 percent, from previous month’s 34 to 28 in October; 52 people were also injured in these attacks during the month under review. These statistics were revealed in Pak Institute for Peace Studies’ monthly security review for October 2018.

The report further said that those 28 killed in terrorist attacks included 19 personnel of security and law enforcement agencies – 5 FC men, 5 policemen, 5 Levies, 3 army soldiers, and one paramilitary – and 9 civilians.

Indicating a rise of 40 percent from previous month, 14 terrorist attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). These attacks claimed 11 lives – half than in the month before – and injured 23 others.

Baloch nationalist insurgents further stepped up attacks in October 2018. On the whole, 12 reported attacks in Balochistan claimed 15 lives and injured 29 others. Ten of thee attacks were perpetrated by different Baloch insurgent groups and two attacks were carried out by religiously inspired militants such as the TTP.

Hizbul Ahrar claimed two reported targeted killings of 2 policemen in Karachi. No attack took place in any other region of the country.
